SMTS SOFTWARE SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER 

THE ROLE: 

We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using effective communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.   

THE PERSON: 

This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly.  You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development.  The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• A powerful desire to learn new skills and understand new features as they are added 
• Proven record of accomplishment of working within and across groups. 
• Effective communication skills 
• Responsible for exploring opportunities to improve product 
• Work closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve and enhance products 

Mandatory Skills:

1.  Engineer with 14+ years of experience in embedded Software development specifically in Linux Environment

 2.  Strong C/C++ development skills with a good understanding of object-oriented design

3.  Hands-on knowledge of porting, development and customization of embedded Linux x86 platform

4.  Hands-on knowledge of Automotive software development involving Virtualization, and Virtual machines with Linux and Android guests 

5.   Linux experience in the areas of kernel/drivers/user space.

6.   Experience dealing with Linux community and Open Source contribution is a plus.

7. managing 3rd party software development and Integration

8. Collaboration across mutiple teams

9. Audio, ALSA, DSP development exp

10.  Customer requirements decomposition, solution implementation, and customer support.

11. Independently able to identify and analyze performance bottlenecks in design and implementation stages

12. System knowledge, System Debugging

13. Strong written and verbal communication skills

14. Self-motivated, should be able to take lead in mastering new technologies

15. Work in both an individual and team member environment

Good to have:

1. Experienced with GFX, Multimedia and IO drivers

2. Experienced with ASPICE and functional safety standard is a plus

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
